Dotnetfx Cleanup - .NET Framework sauber entfernen

Microsofts .NET Framework wird von vielen Anwendungen benötigt und in verschiedenen Versionen gleich mitinstalliert. Wenn es zu Problemen kommt oder die Deinstallation sowie ein Update von .NET nicht funktioniert, dann hilft das kostenlose Tool Dotnetfx Cleanup.


Funktionalität: Normalerweise sollte sich Microsofts .NET Framework über die Systemsteuerung von Windows problemlos deinstallieren lassen. Auch das Update auf neuere Versionen funktioniert in der Regel. Manchmal kann es aber zu Konflikten und Fehlermeldungen bei diesen Vorgängen kommen – insbesondere wenn verschiedene Versionen durcheinander installiert sind und gemeinsam genutzte Dateien überschrieben werden. Lässt sich dann über den herkömmlichen Weg das .NET Framework weder aktualisieren noch deinstallieren, so muss es auf anderem Weg vom System entfernt werden – eine Neuinstallation von Windows wäre eine zu aufwendige Option. Der Micosoft-Entwickler Aaron Stebner bietet für diesen Fall mit Dotnetfx Cleanup ein kostenloses Tool zum Entfernen von .NET-Framework-Installationen an. Dotnetfx Cleanup entfernt alle .NET Frameworks ab der Version 1.0 – inklusive der aktuellen Version 4.0.
Bei .NET Framework Problemen: Funktioniert die normale Deinstallation oder ein Upgrade des Frameworks nicht, dann hilft das Tool Dotnetfx Cleanup.

Installation: Dotnetfx Cleanup lässt sich als ausführbares Programm ohne Installation direkt unter Windows starten.

Bedienung: Nachdem dem Start des Tools wählen Sie nach Product to cleanup den Eintrag .Net Framework – All Versions und klicken auf Cleanup Now. Alternativ können Sie auch nur eine bestimmte Version deinstallieren. Beachten Sie aber, dass das Tool auch Dateien löscht, die von allen .NET Frameworks gemeinsam genutzt werden. Am besten deinstallieren Sie also alle Versionen und spielen dann ein aktuelles .NET Framework neu auf Ihr System. Dotnetfx Cleanup deinstalliert keine .NET Frameworks, die bereits standardmäßig bei der Betriebssysteminstallation integriert sind. So kann es beispielsweise bei Windows Server 2003 nicht das enthaltene .NET Framework 1.1 deinstallieren. Alternativ bietet Dotnetfx Cleanup auch einen Kommandozeilenmodus an. Die entsprechenden Befehle sind in der readme.txt der zum Download zur Verfügung stehenden zip-Datei des Tools beschrieben.

Silent installation mode

Exit codes
The cleanup tool can returns the following exit codes:

• 0 - cleanup completed successfully for the specified product
• 3010 - cleanup completed successfully for the specified product and a reboot is required to complete the cleanup process
• 1 - cleanup tool requires administrative privileges on the machine
• 2 - the required file cleanup.ini was not found in the same path as cleanup.exe
• 3 - a product name was passed in that cannot be removed because it is a part of the OS on the system that the cleanup tool is running on
• 4 - a product name was passed in that does not exist in cleanup.ini
• 100 - cleanup was able to start but failed during the cleanup process
• 1602 - cleanup was cancelled

Log files
The cleanup tool creates the following log files:

• %temp%\cleanup_main.log - a log of all activity during each run of the cleanup tool; this is a superset of the logs listed below as well as some additional information
• %temp%\cleanup_actions.log - a log of actions taken during removal of each product; it will list files that it finds and removes, product codes it tries to remove, registry entries it tries to remove, etc.
• %temp%\cleanup_errors.log - a log of errors and warnings encountered during each run of the cleanup tool
